Winter has already approached, and December’s already here. But it’s not too late to plan a trip for Christmas or New Year, and just as the saying goes, it’s always better late than never. You can still book cheap flight tickets. So here are some beautiful places where you can plan your trip with your family or friends.
- Vienna, Austria
While summer is the more popular time that tourists visit European countries, wintertime, especially around the holidays, is a beautiful time to visit. Vienna, Austria’s capital, stands apart from the many enchanting cities of Europe during the holidays.
It’s gorgeous, has a lot of history and gets even prettier when covered in lights and snow. During the holiday season, the ancient squares of Vienna become the homes of Christmas markets selling all sorts of traditional Viennese and Austrian Trinkets and treats.
A famous annual event known as the Vienna Magic of Advent gets set up in City Hall Park. The market here has a carousel and craft stations, and the surrounding areas are decked up in simmering lights, setting the scene for an experience you won’t forget. You could go on a road trip around the various tourist destinations.
- Nagano, Japan
Japan, too, is famous during the summertime to see the beautiful Sakuras bloom, the famous cherry blossom, and Japan’s national flower. But one place you should check out during the wintertime is Nagano, especially for a ski adventure. You can easily get a hotel booking if you book early. And Hakuba, just outside of the city in the northern alps, is one of the country’s best all-round ski destinations.
After that, ease any aches and pains with a visit to one of the region’s onsens or hot springs filled with magnesium and calcium. You can also try the buckwheat soba noodles that are famous in this country.
- Tromso, Norway
Want to see a lot of winter snow? Tromso, located over three hundred kilometres north of the Arctic Circle, experiences erratic snowfall patterns and some winters experiencing subarctic conditions, chill winds and some experiencing milder temperatures.
The northern lights appear between September and April, But mid-winter also offers the best chances of spotting them. In town, you could take the Fjellheisen cable car to the top of the mountain that provides the best views, but heading out of the city with a tour, away from light pollution, would be better.
Chiang Mai, Thailand
A city surrounded by misty mountains, golden temples and verdant rice terraces, the best time to visit Chiang Mai is from mid-November to early March. As that is the time, the climate is more pleasant and is just right if you want to do some warm-weather activities. Moreover, every city in the old town is covered in flowers and plants for three days, for the flower festival held every February in Suan Buak Hat public garden. Book an air ticket and visit Chiang Mai as soon as possible.
Zermatt, Switzerland
Europe’s most famous ski resort is situated in Zermatt, the perfect destination if you want to see snow in abundance, with a touch of adrenaline. It is a small town you can find sitting right on the border of Italy, surrounded by towering mountains.
There are over two hundred kilometres of area for skiing and accommodate skiers of all abilities, from beginners to experts. The top stations are at an impressive altitude of 3883 meters.
